Michael’s detailed watercolours document urban landscapes to express the diverse cultures inhabiting that space.
Walking city streets and neighbourhoods I observe unique surroundings capturing a moment in time,
Paintings feature local meeting places, living by the waterfront , and buildings reflecting better times gone by. Scenes show people outside cafes or going about their everyday activities, there is always an essence of urban life. Store fronts, restaurants and coffee houses are operating in unique or vintage buildings, they often have unique signs, graffiti or colourful murals. I bring in bright colours and shapes of these unique locations and the people who live in these neighbourhoods.
