Teaching / MENTORING
Mentoring individuals with special needs at my studio in North Vancouver. We draw, paint, discuss art, purchase art supplies and go to art shows.
I teach art to groups of young adults with special needs to help their visual expression.
Classes are held weekly through a program called Stages of Creativity that is funded by NSDRC (North Shore Disabilities Resource Centre).
My student started working in clay and made a salmon sculpture and was selected to be in a group show “Journey of Salmon”.
This multi-disciplinary exhibition will explore and record the epic journey of salmon, engaging the viewer in an incredible story of life, death, and rebirth in British Columbia. Each year, salmon return to their place of birth, traversing the Pacific Ocean, up river rapids and streams to reproduce and then die, sustaining the flora and fauna of the temperate rainforest, and continuing the life cycle for their next generation.
